There are some strong opinions held by many parents regarding whether it is acceptable to allow or encourage boys to play with dolls.
Playing with dolls has been shown to have no effect upon a boy’s masculinity. In fact, playing with dolls actually encourages imaginative role play in which children, both boys and girls, act out various scenarios that they have witnessed. This type of play helps children to develop their sense of the world around them.
The following video shows an interesting discussion on the topic of gender-specific play:

There is nothing wrong with boys playing with dolls, it sets them up to be caring later on in life.
Dolls are good for boys as they are for girls. Dolls houses are also excellent for stimulating creative play and imagination. Children can use their dolls as actors in their own little scenarios. This helps them to develop their language skills, interpersonal skills and much more.
I don’t know I’d recommend a Cindy Doll for my son
But I used to have an action man!
I think it should depend on the little boy. Letting them choose if they desire to play with dolls or not. When very young, both boys and girls should both have some type of cuddly doll. Action figure dolls are great too for little boys and could help increase their use of their imagination.
In raising 2 sons, and now having 2 grandsons, I don’t see any concerns in boys playing with dolls. All play is good and important for the developing child. They use their imagination and have hours of fun if left to play without bias.
